Upholstery Cleaning: Getting Sofas and Sectionals Actually Clean
4 min read

A sofa absorbs body oil, sunscreen, food and pet dander every single day and almost never gets cleaned. Upholstery is usually the dirtiest surface in a living room.
How often furniture should be cleaned
Use these intervals as a baseline for an Inland Empire household.
- Everyday family sofa or sectional — every 12 months
- Homes with pets on the furniture — every 6 to 9 months
- Light-colored or microfiber upholstery — every 6 months
- Guest room and formal furniture — every 2 years
- Dining chairs with fabric seats — annually, with the carpet
Fabric codes matter more than the cleaner
Tags read W (water-safe), S (solvent only), WS (either) or X (vacuum only). Putting water on an S-code fabric is how you get permanent rings and shrinkage. We check the code on every piece before anything is sprayed.
Why store-bought foam leaves rings
Consumer upholstery shampoo leaves detergent in the fabric. That residue attracts dirt, and as the cushion dries the moisture pulls soil to the surface in a visible halo. Low-moisture extraction with a proper rinse leaves nothing behind.
Pair it with your carpet appointment
Most customers add the sofa to a carpet cleaning visit — one trip, one setup, and new clients still get 10% off the first booking.
